Greg Brown

CCA President Mr Greg Brown was elected at the Cattle Council Annual General Meeting in Orange on 10th November 2008.

Greg Brown is a beef cattle producer from Mt Garnet in North Queensland. Greg and his wife fatten their predominantly Brahman herd on their property, “Meadowbank”.

Born and bred in northern cattle country, Greg is a long time participator in the beef industry. He was a founding member of Cattlemans Union of Australia formed in 1976 and following, a member of Agforce, later formed in 1998. In addition, he was a valued member of Northern Australia Beef Research Centre (NBRAC) for seven years prior to his election as President of Agforce cattle in 2006.

Greg is a strong advocate for the systems underpinning Australia’s beef industry, in particularly, Meat Standards Australia   (MSA), a national quality assurance meat grading program and powerful marketing tool available to all Australian beef cattle producers. Greg places strong emphasis on the industry to deliver to producers accessible tools that improve their on-farm profitability.
For the past four years, Greg has candidly represented beef producers both in Queensland and Nationally on a number of challenging issues that continue to impact our industry. Some of these include drought policy, climate change and increasing on-farm input costs.
Greg’s election as President of the Cattle Council in November 2008 will continue his involvement of over 30 years in agri-politics. His focus now is representing the broad interests of cattle producers from all States and Territories across Australia, in the development of useful and robust policy that will ensure the future profitability of our industry.
