Cattle Council’s annual photo competition, Stories from the Station has wrapped up with three clear place winners.

Cattle Council President, Markus Rathsmann said online voting concluded on Sunday night.

“Casey Littleton from Julia Creek in Queensland took out the competition with more than 500 online votes,” Mr Rathsmann said.

“Her photo ‘follow the leader’, shows a herd of Brahman cattle crossing a creek in Northern Queensland.

“Second place went to Sharon Lohse from Springvale for her shot called ‘Tailing Weaners’.

“This photo captures some the afternoon light, as her to daughters bring a herd of cattle home.

“In third place was Gina Rieck from Tibooburra in NSW, with her shot ‘knock off time’.

“This is a great shot of some of our people, showing the different generations on the land at the end of the day.

“Our three other finalists Jen Peart from Injune, Nancy Gray from Orange Hill and Maureen Malone from Camillo in WA will also receive a prize.

“All prizes this year are eftpos gift cards, so the winners can spend them wherever they like and support their local community businesses.

“Cattle Council is proud to see the incredible photos that came in from right across the country and looks forward to showcasing them in our yearbook and online.

“Over the Christmas break, Cattle Council will display a number of the photos on our social media platforms.

“I thank all entrants for their contribution and their dedication to telling our stories.”

The competition did not have any entries in its video category this year, and the prizes have been redistributed amongst the photo finalists.
