The 2018 Cattle Council of Australia’s annual Rural Awareness Tour is taking in the sights of Queensland all with the aim of providing key decisions makers an insight into the life of a producer within the beef industry.
Since 1991 Cattle Council of Australia has hosted the annual Rural Awareness Tour in a beef production region within Australia for Department of Agriculture and Water Resources staff and industry decision makers.
The attendees are provided with the opportunity to explore the beef supply chain, in detail, through the touring of beef cattle properties, sale yards, feedlots, processing plants, red meat distributors, retail and food services.
Cattle Council CEO Margo Andrae said “this experience is so important for those in decision making roles as it provides them with on the ground understanding of the beef industry and the current issues it faces.”
“Attendees will have the opportunity to network and speak directly with producers, retailers, distributors and researchers.”
The 2018 Rural Awareness Tour takes attendees from Mackay, to Emerald, Moranbah and Rockhampton to provide them with a paddock to plate understanding of the beef industry, and the role that Cattle Council plays.
“Not only will attendees visit properties and facilities, participants will also enjoy a lot of premium Australian beef along the way,” Ms Andre said.
